Objectives & Course Synopsis
Participants will learn to:
• summarize the anatomy and pathophysiology of the lymphatic system in the genital region and its role in the development of genital lymphedema.
• differentiate stages of genital lymphedema and analyze how staging influences clinical decision-making and treatment selection.
• demonstrate appropriate compression techniques for both male and female genital lymphedema based on clinical presentation.
• apply modified Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) principles to the management of genital lymphedema across varying levels of severity.
• analyze case-based scenarios to identify clinical presentations of genital lymphedema and determine appropriate intervention strategies.
• develop an evidence-based plan of care for patients with genital lymphedema incorporating compression, manual therapy, and patient education.
• implement treatment strategies aimed at reducing genital lymphedema to support improved function, comfort, and participation in daily activities.

The course is offered as an instructor led course with both lecture and lab components. Course materials are provided in the form of live teletraining / remote learning with an instructor that is a subject matter expert within the field covered. The in-person lecture and lab format allows for an interactive learning environment which fosters the development of appropriate reasoning and problem solving skills combined with refinement of manual skills specific to the oncology population. Participants may be given a final written exam at the end of the course as well as a lab competency exam to assess both manual and clinical reasoning skills.
